Chansons d'Amour Concert Mary Barry sings love songs The
day before Valentine's Day I'll be singing love songs at the DF Cook
Recital Hall with maestro Brian Way at the baby grand, Charlie Barfoot
on guitar, Kate Bevan-Baker on violin, Susan Evoy on clarinet and sax,
Jack Daw on the acoustic bass and Rob Lee on percussion. The concert is
co-sponsored by Memorial University School of Music. The
Chansons d'Amour Concert will feature songs from my new CD (all in
French), and because it's Valentine's Day, I'll perform a few timeless
classics such as You Go to My Head and My Funny Valentine. Tickets are
at Fred's, O'Brien's and The Travel Bug. Chansons Irisées (songs of iridescence) The
Chansons d'Amour Concert celebrates the launch of my brand new/flambant
neuf CD entitled Chansons Irisées, (pronounced eer-ee-zay), which is my
first full length recording in French. I will sing all the tunes from
the disc, most of them for the very first time in concert. From
Piaf to Brel, tango to cabaret and swing – many tales of love - and all
in French. What could be more romantic? CD's are on sale now at Fred's
Records and will be available at the Chansons d'Amour Concert. Upcoming Media Events Though the CD hasn't yet been officially released, the response has been overwhelmingly positive. The Newfoundland and Labrador Arts Council
is featuring me and the upcoming CD release on their website and Radio
Newfoundland just informed me that they are choosing Track #7, Peine
d'Amour, to go into regular rotation. Articles will soon be published in: - The Telegram

Cultural Olympiad I am going to the Olympics Finally,
the most extraordinary thing has happened: I am invited to sing at the
2010 Olympics in Vancouver with two concerts at the Atlantic Canada
House and two at La Place de la Francophonie. I will be performing with
my left coast team of musicians: Graham Ord on sax and flute, Andre
Carrasquero on piano, Doug Stephenson on bass and Newfoundland native
Curtis Andrews on percussion. Needless to say, I am totally honoured to
be representing my province and am so very grateful for this once in a
lifetime opportunity. Happy Year of the Tiger! Sincerely, Mary Barry February 1, 2010 |
